The “Patients” page
This page provides access to your practice’s patient records. Here you can select a patient to be photographed, enter records for new patients, and view or edit records for existing patients.
The “Selected Patient” box
At top left of this page is a box containing controls for viewing, editing, entering, and searching for patient records.
Entry, editing, and searching buttons
The row of buttons at the top of the “Selected Patient” box lets you perform these functions…
- Create a new record
- Search for records
- Erase the text boxes
- Edit the active record
- Cancel editing or entry
- Accept editing or entry
Active patient record
Below the buttons is a set of text editing buttons (plus a pick list). Depending on the operating mode, these can be used to display details of the active patient record, to enter new records and edit existing ones, and to type in search criteria.
Full-face photo panel
To the right of the “Selected Patient” box is a panel that displays the active patient’s full-face photograph, if a patient is active and a full-face image has been assigned to him or her.
If there is no patient active, or if the active patient hasn’t got a full-face photo, this panel will show the CaptureDent splash screen. When the splash image is showing, if your computer is connected to the Internet you can click the panel to bring up the CaptureDent website in your favorite browser.
Patient record grid
This spreadsheet-style grid displays a working group of patients. Which records are shown depends on whether a patient search is active, and which alphabetic index tab is selected.
Alphabetic index tabs
The alphabetic tabs across the bottom of the patient record grid act much as those in a traditional telephone desk index. When you click a letter, the grid will display the records for all patients whose last names begin with that letter.
Clicking the “All” tab will display all patient records. Unless your practice is a small one, or you have not yet entered many patient records, it could take a long time to populate the grid with data representing all your patients.
If the “*” (star or asterisk) tab is clicked, the grid will display the results of your most recent patient search, if any has been performed during this run of CaptureDent.
